Summer in Villars-sur-Ollon & Gryon

From June to September, Villars-sur-Ollon and Gryon become a green-season base for hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, and mountain-lake bathing in the Vaud Alps. Villars hosts an 18-hole golf course at over 1,600 m — one of the highest in Europe — and both villages open onto marked trails leading to Bretaye, Solalex, and Anzeindaz at the foot of the Diablerets massif.

Hiking from the villages

Marked trails climb from both village centres. From Villars, take the BVB cog railway to Bretaye and walk to Lac Bretaye or Chamossaire. From Gryon, hike up to Solalex and on to Anzeindaz for classic Diablerets views.

Golf, bike, and paragliding

Golf Club Villars is an 18-hole course at more than 1,600 m altitude. Downhill and cross-country mountain-bike trails link Chamossaire and Bretaye back to Villars. Tandem paragliding and via ferrata routes operate through the summer.

Lakes and family days

Lac Bretaye is a short walk from the train and holds a small alpine restaurant. Lake Geneva, at about 40 minutes down the mountain, adds beaches, boat trips, and the vineyards of Lavaux — a UNESCO World Heritage terraced wine landscape.

Getting here

From Geneva Airport, count roughly 90 minutes by car via the A9 to Bex, then the mountain road. The Bex–Villars–Bretaye cog railway serves both villages year-round.
