Villars-sur-Ollon is a Swiss alpine village at 1,300 m altitude in the canton of Vaud, part of the linked Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets ski area. It sits about 90 minutes from Geneva Airport and combines a year-round mountain resort with the calm of a traditional Swiss village.

Getting to Villars-sur-Ollon

From Geneva Airport, count roughly 90 minutes by car via the A9 motorway to Bex, then the mountain road up to Villars. By train, SBB trains serve Bex, from where the historic Bex-Villars-Bretaye (BVB) cog railway climbs directly through the village and up to the ski area at Bretaye.

Winter in Villars: skiing & snow

The Villars-Gryon-Les Diablerets domain offers around 125 km of pistes across three linked resorts, from beginner slopes above Villars to the year-round Glacier 3000. Cross-country trails, snowshoeing, tobogganing, and ice skating round out the winter programme.

Summer in Villars: golf, hiking & bike

In the green season, Villars is a hub for hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, and mountain-lake bathing. The Golf Club Villars is an 18-hole course at over 1,600 m and one of the highest in Europe. Downhill and cross-country mountain-bike trails link the Chamossaire and Bretaye plateau back to the village.

Villars has a compact but international dining scene along the main street, Avenue Centrale, from traditional Swiss mountain restaurants serving fondue and raclette to fine-dining tables and casual cafés.
